President Andrea Jane Lee, IHM

10th President of St. Catherine University

Andrea Lee, IHM is president of St. Catherine University, a dynamic institution that serves almost 5,300 students on two campuses in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the University's heart is the largest and most innovative college for women in the nation. St. Catherine also offers a broad range of graduate and associate-degree programs for women and men.

Lee has led the University to achieve record enrollments in each year of her presidency as well as attain marked increases in financial and plant assets, visibility, and community and global engagement. Under her leadership, St. Catherine recently established the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health to extend its reach and influence as a premier educator preparing healthcare professionals for a rapidly changing healthcare system.

Fomerly, Lee was interim president, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Marygrove College in Detroit. She holds a master's and Ph.D. in educational administration from Pennsylvania State University, where she received the Outstanding Alumna Award. She also holds degrees in music, elementary education and Italian language and literature.

Currently, she serves as board member and officer of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, in Washington, D.C.; board member of both the Catholic Community Foundation and the Minnesota Private College Council in St. Paul; and member of the Board of Stewardship Trustees of Catholic Health Initiatives headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

Formerly, Lee served as board member and national chairperson for the Religious Network for Equality for Women, advocating for economic justice for women. She served as financial co-chair of the mayoral transition team for Dennis Archer in Detroit and as principal financial reviewer for the $100 million Detroit Empowerment Zone projects. She was founding president of a non-profit low-income senior housing corporation in Detroit and a member of St. Paul. Mayor Chris Coleman’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on budget priorities.

An accomplished media artist and liturgical musician, playing flute and piano, Sister Andrea is a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe, Michigan, and the adoptive mother of a son from Haiti.
