Lynn Luecke ’15
Hometown: Cedar Falls, Iowa
Why St. Kate’s: I liked the University's Catholic identity. I thought it would help me enhance my spiritual life — and I have not been disappointed.
(Lynn is the first recipient of the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Scholarship from St. Catherine University. The award, which covers full tuition to the University, recognizes a Catholic high school graduate who has demonstrated noteworthy academic excellence and leadership based on Catholic values.)
Living on campus: I love living on campus because it allows me to meet many new people, and I have become friends with some people who are very different from me. It’s also convenient to get to class when you live on campus.
On classes: St. Kate’s classes have been very interesting. My current favorite is microbiology; I like the way my professor teaches it. It is also closely related to my major and, I hope, my future profession.
Why dietetics: I love food, and I would like to help others have a healthy diet.
Clubs and Christian life: I'm involved in CRU, a Christian fellowship group on campus, and I am having an awesome experience with the other Christians in this group. I am also very involved in Campus Ministry, and I am co-president of the Catholic Students Association at St. Kate’s.
Future plans: I dream of opening a restaurant with my sister, who has been my cooking partner in countless experiments at our home in Iowa. I also hope to study abroad and learn more about foods from other cultures.
