Prospective First-year Scholarships
There are two kinds of scholarships: those awarded by St. Kate’s and those from outside sources. We have a strong merit scholarship program based on the potential, talents, achievements and contributions of students. For priority consideration, apply for admission and submit supporting materials by February 15. We also encourage you to pursue outside scholarships. The amount awarded for St. Kate’s grants and scholarships is not affected by outside scholarships.
Academic
Elizabeth Ann Beatson O'Shaughnessy Merit Scholarship
- Full tuition and fees for four years.
- Each year, a student is selected on the basis of outstanding academic performance and extraordinary artistic or musical talent or excellence in extracurricular accomplishments. For priority consideration, apply for admission and submit all supporting materials by November 16.
SCU Merit Scholarships
- Presidential Scholarship: $20,000
- St. Catherine of Alexandria Scholarship: $19,000
- Dean's Scholarship: $14,000
Merit scholarships represent St. Kate's commitment to continued academic excellence. Students may earn one of the scholarships listed above based on academic achievement or potential as signified by ACT or SAT scores, high school GPA and class rank. These scholarships are renewable each year as long as the student is enrolled full time and is in good academic standing.
Achievement
SCU Scholarship for National Merit Scholars
- $2,500 per year for four years.
- National Merit semifinalists or finalists in the national competition are eligible for this award.
SCU Scholarship for National Achievement Scholars
- $2,500 per year for four years.
- African-American National Achievement semifinalists or finalists in the national competition are eligible for this award.
SCU Scholarship for National Hispanic Scholars
- $2,500 per year for four years.
- National Hispanic Scholar semifinalists or finalists in the national competition are eligible for this award.
SCU Scholarship for National Merit, National Achievement or National Hispanic Commended Students
- $2,000 per year for four years.
- Commended students in the National Merit,Achievement or Hispanic competitions are eligible for this award.
Diversity
Minority Excellence Program (MEP) Scholarship
- $10,000 per year for four years.
- Students completing the MEP program in the St. Paul public school system are guaranteed $10,000 in St. Catherine funding.This may be in the form of St. Catherine scholarships or grants.
Legacy
Alumnae Referral Scholarship
- A one-time scholarship of $600.
- This scholarship is awarded to every accepted student who receives an Alumnae Referral Card from an alumna of St. Kate’s.The Referral Card must be submitted with the admission application or returned within two weeks of an online application.
TripliKate Scholarship
- $3,000 per year for four years.
- Students whose mothers and grandmothers graduated from St. Catherine are eligible for this scholarship.
DupliKate Scholarship
- $2,000 per year for four years.
- Students whose mothers or grandmothers graduated from St. Catherine are eligible for this scholarship.
Department Majors
Music Performance Scholarship
- Varying amount.
- Students exhibiting outstanding musical talent are eligible for this award. Auditions are held before faculty. Awards are renewable depending on continued participation or active involvement in music performance activities.
Our Neighbors
Venture Scholarship
- $5,000 per year for four years.
- Students who are legal U.S. residents, not residing in Minnesota or Montana, and not graduating from a Minnesota high school are eligible for this award. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Sophia Brough Kampfer Scholarship for Montana Students
- Minimum of $5,000 per year for four years.
- Awarded to students whose legal residence is Montana.To be eligible, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
STEM
NSF-STEM Diamond in the Rough Scholarship
- Award varies, minimum $3,000 for first year of enrollment
- For majors in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), who have taken challenging science and math coursese in high school, are involved in STEM-related activities and have a strong cumulative GPA. Must complete a FAFSA and demonstrate need. Funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF) Award No. 1060058.
Outside Scholarships
You are also encouraged to apply for outside scholarships. Outside scholarships will not affect the amount awarded for St. Kate's grants and scholarships.
