Studio Art Minors

You can enhance your education in studio art or another St. Kate's major with one of these minor fields of study:

Painting and Drawing Minor

Required courses:

  • ART 1000: Two-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing

Plus three of the following:

  • ART 1200: Drawing
  • ART 2300: Painting: Oil
  • ART 2310: Painting: Acrylic
  • ART 2600: Figure Drawing
  • ART 3310: Advanced Painting

Graphic Design Minor

Required courses:

  • ART 1000: Two-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing
  • ART 2250: Art and Technology
  • ART 3150: Publication and Computer Design

Plus one of the following:

  • ART 3200: Graphic and Web Design
  • ART 3180: Illustration and Computer Design

Photography Minor

Required courses:

  • ART 1000: Two-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing
  • ART 2360: Photography I
  • ART 3360: Photography II
  • ART 3370: Color Photography

Printmaking Minor

Required courses:

  • ART 1000: Two-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing
  • ART 2340: Printmaking I
  • ART 3350: Advanced Printmaking

Three-Dimensional Minor

Required courses:

  • ART 1010: Three-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing

Plus three from the following:

  • ART 2000: Jewelry
  • ART 2450: Clay Sculpture
  • ART 2500: Sculpture
  • ART 3450: Advanced Sculpture: Ceramics
  • ART 3500: Advanced Sculpture

Design Minor (in conjunction with apparel design major)

Required courses:

  • ART 1000: Two-Dimensional Design
  • ART 1010: Three-Dimensional Design
  • ARTH 1100: Introduction to Art History: Ancient through Medieval or ARTH 1110: Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to Modern or ARTH 1150: Ways of Seeing
