The application priority deadlines are July 1 (Fall) and December 1 (Spring). It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all required materials are submitted by the application deadline. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis. We will begin accepting applications in June 2013 for Spring 2014 enrollment.

Print and complete all sections of the paper application form.

Application fee

Submit a $35 non-refundable fee as part of the online application process. This fee is waived for students who:

  • Previously enrolled at the University (completed at least one course at either the undergraduate or graduate level)
  • Previously attended a graduate information session within the past five years
  • Previously completed an individual appointment with graduate faculty/staff within the past five years

If one or more of the above statements applies to you, choose the “waiver” option when asked for a form of payment.

Please note that your application fee will not be refunded if you submit the payment but are eligible for a fee waiver.

Personal statement

Prepare a personal essay that demonstrates written communication skills and clarifies your purpose in pursuing a graduate degree in business administration. Do not exceed three typed, double-spaced pages. Handwritten statements will not be accepted. Please address the following questions in your essay:

  • Critically assess an important issue with which business professionals should be concerned about, now and in the next decade. Incorporate one of the following concepts into your response: sustainability, social and global responsibility, and/or innovation. Provide evidence to support your assessment, including citations as needed. Include your own perspective on the role and responsibility of business leaders in relation to this issue.
  • What are your professional goals? How would the MBA program at St. Catherine University help you to achieve your professional and personal goals? Provide specific examples.

Personal statements should be mailed to the Office of Graduate Admission at the address listed below. Applicants who wish to submit their statement via e-mail should send the completed attachment to with “MBA Personal Statement” in the subject line. Please include your full name at the top of the statement.


Submit a current résumé highlighting professional and volunteer experiences. You should have the professional experience and commitment that would typically be demonstrated by two or more years of work or volunteer experience. Healthcare Concentration applicants should highlight their experiences within the healthcare industry.

Résumés should be mailed to the Office of Graduate Admission at the address listed below. Applicants who wish to submit their résumé via e-mail should send the completed attachment to with “MBA Résumé” in the subject line. Handwritten résumés will not be accepted.


Two MBA recommendation forms must be completed by individuals who can attest to the intellectual ability, professional competence and leadership ability of the applicant. Only professional or academic references will be considered; personal references are not acceptable. References must complete both the checklist and the accompanying statement sections of the form.

These are confidential recommendations and must be sent directly from the references to the Office of Graduate Admission. Original documents must be sent to our office. Applicants who wish to view a copy of the completed recommendations are responsible for making the appropriate arrangements with their references.

Official transcripts are required from each post-secondary institution attended, even if courses are recorded on another transcript and regardless of the number of credits earned. Transcripts should be mailed directly from the registrar of each institution to the Office of Graduate Admission at St. Catherine University.

GRE/GMAT scores

Applicants who do not meet the academic performance requirement (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) must submit an explanatory statement to address any factors that influenced previous academic performance, and how the applicant plans to ensure future academic success. Applicants may also be required to submit official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Either exam may be completed to satisfy the application requirements. Scores from previous exams may be submitted if completed within 5 years of application to the MBA program.

Applicants with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, or who have completed a graduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0, do not need to submit test scores or an explanatory statement as part of the MBA application process.


Applicants whose native language is not English are required to pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 or better on the paper and pencil test, 100 on the iBT or 250 on the computerized test, or the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a score of 90 or better.

This requirement is waived for students who have completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the United States.

Credential evaluation

Applicants with a college or university degree completed outside of the United States must submit an official evaluation from World Education Services, as well as original transcripts and official translations of all documents not in English. All costs related to document translation and evaluation are the applicant’s responsibility.

International application

Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must submit an International Student Application and Certification of Finances, in addition to the MBA program application. No additional application fee is required.
