Why St. Kate’s

Economics faculty member Joann Bangs lecturing in class

The financial economics major at St. Kate’s will give you a strong background in economic theory and augment that knowledge with business finance courses.

Hands-on learning through internships

As a financial economics major, you’ll gain practical experience through an internship in your major area. Such experience increases the value you bring to organizations after graduation.

Students majoring in financial economics have interned at large and small corporations in the Twin Cities area, including:

  • Wells Fargo
  • 3M
  • American Red Cross
  • RBC Wealth Management
  • Lucent Technologies
  • Green Tree Financial
  • Minnesota Department of Transportation

Student-to-student connections

As a financial economics major, you'll get to participate in the Economics Club, which includes students from economics, financial economics and the international business and economics majors. The club provides a valuable opportunity to build community, learn together outside the classroom and engage in other special opportunities.
