Biology Minor

Biology students stand in a stream gathering samples.

The minor in biology provides useful, related scientific background for students planning to major in chemistry, psychology or pre-professional programs, such as pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy or pre-physical therapy.

Course requirements

To earn a minor in biology, complete the following courses:

  • Two 1000-level biology courses, preferably BIOL 1710 and 1720
  • BIOL 2720 (note, if BIOL 1110 or BIOL 1140 are used as one of the 1000 level courses, another course may be substituted for BIOL 2720 upon consultation with the department chair)
