Women's Art Institute
For the past 13 years, the Women's Art Institute has been an annual program at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In 2012–2013 the Institute moves to the beautiful St. Paul campus of St. Catherine University. The Department of Art and Art History will present this innovative and rigorous course that focuses on issues and art that arise through the combination of open studio work, intense individual tutoring, inspiring conversation and critiques, and presentations from guest artists, critics and art historians.
This intensive four-week studio program is designed for individuals who have mastered basic skills and now wish to pursue deeper levels of understanding and expression in their work. Disciplines explored include painting, drawing, collage, photography, sculpture, digital art, installation and performance. Participants will have all-day access to the large, sunlit studios and shop facilities of the Visual Arts Building. The Institute is in session Monday through Friday with several evening presentations.
This year, the Summer Studio Intensive meets June 3-28, 2013, and the deadline for applications is May 1, 2013. Tuition rates for the 2013-2014 academic year have not been announced. However, both partial and full scholarships are available also by application due May 1, 2013.
